Position Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

  • Coordination of various community planning efforts
  • Assist with grant writing, coordinating and lobbying efforts for planning and infrastructure related projects
  • Coordinate City’s efforts with Area Planning Department and Board of Zoning Appeals
  • Manage zoning and land use related activities
  • Coordinate with dissemination of information relating to public works projects
  • Development of and support to neighborhood associations
  • Coordinate with the Sustainability Commission
  • Oversee Brownfield redevelopment activities
  • Maintain the Trails and Parks Masterplan

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Able to work independently and with little direct supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work well with others
  • Ability to implement new projects and procedures

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Training:  Bachelor’s Degree in planning or a related field

Experience:  Minimum 5 years experience in public sector planning preferred

Working Conditions:   Mostly office setting with some field investigation

Physical Requirements:      

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
