LEAF COLLECTION 2024
The 2024 leaf collection season will begin on November 12th. The THSD will start North (Haythorne Ave) this year and work our way South. We will do two full passes so please don't worry if you miss our first pick up. Leaves need to be placed in the tree row or by the edge of the road. Please do not blow the leaves into the street. There is no need to reach out to 311 unless if your leaves get missed on the second pass. Republic's will also be providing bagged leaf pick up. Please have your leaves bagged and placed by your trash can on your normal trash pick up day. They will pick up to 10 bags of leaves a week. If you have any questions please reach out to the Street Department at 812-244-2901.
An updated leaf pickup schedule will be announced each week on here as well as social media. The leaf pick up schedule is weather dependent and therefore subject to change. You can also click on the link below where you will be able to get live updates on where our leaf vacs are located day by day.

Important notes:
* Some crews may periodically work in other areas of the city (not on the weekly schedule) that have large accumulations of leaves in order to keep storm drains open. If you see our crews working outside the “scheduled” area please do not be concerned if you do not have your leaves ready. They will be back during the officially scheduled week.
* Once we have completed the initial pickup throughout the entire city we will make a second pass through areas with significant remaining leaves.
* Please have your leaves raked neatly into a pile in the tree row (or city right-of-way), and NOT into the street. Our crews will come through and blow them into the street prior to pick up. This prevents storm sewers from becoming plugged which causes streets to flood.
* Republic will haul away up to ten (10) bags of leaves per week.
LIMB PICKUP
The City is responsible for and will pick up limbs and debris caused by storm damage to trees in a City tree row. We will not pick up limbs, trees, debris or trimmings from a homeowner's yard. Disposal of material cut from a homeowner's yard is the responsibility of the homeowner.
