Best Management Practices (BMP) are designed to help facilities comply with environmental regulations and prevent pollution at the source. This best management practice contains a set of operating procedures and guidelines designed to reduce the amount of pollutants discharged to Terre Haute’s wastewater treatment plant. The development of this BMP is intended to protect the treatment plant and the environment by providing established, common sense, and economical guidelines for automotive repair facilities.

The Terre Haute Wastewater Utility uses this form to conduct inspections at automotive and equipment repair facilities, auto scrap yards, and other facilities where the discharge of non-polar oil and grease may occur.

Any small business that maintains a total aboveground oil storage capacity of greater than 1,320 gallons, or a total underground oil storage capacity of greater than 42,000 gallons, where there is a reasonable potential for a discharge to reach navigable waters is subject to SPCC regulatory requirements.
