Continuing the Conversation: A Human Rights Book Club
The Terre Haute Human Relations Commission invites you to participate in Continuing the Conversation: A Human Rights Book Club. Each year, communities across the United States honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on MLK Day. While this important celebration sparks reflection, the Terre Haute Human Relations Commission believes the conversation shouldn’t stop there.
This monthly book club will explore Dr. King’s powerful and thought-provoking book, Where Do We Go From Here? Chaos or Community? Together, we’ll delve into his teachings on peace, justice, and equality and discuss how we can apply his philosophies to make positive changes in our community.
Meeting Dates
Our book club will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month, except for May, when the meeting will be held on the last Thursday of the month:

- June 26, 2025
Time: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Location: MCL Cafeteria Banquet Room, Meadows Shopping Center
Participants are encourage to arrive early and enjoy a meal, dessert, or coffee. The conversation will start at 5:30 PM.
Reading Assignments
To prepare for each meeting, participants are encouraged to read the assigned sections of Where Do We Go From Here? Chaos or Community? before attending. This will allow for deeper discussions and more meaningful reflections.
Current Reading Schedule:
- January 23, 2025: Introduction, Foreword, and Chapter 1
- February 27, 2025: Chapter 2
- March 27, 2025: Chapter 3
- April 24, 2025: Chapter 4
- May 29, 2025: Chapter 5
- June 26, 2025: Chapter 6 and Appendix
This section will be updated throughout the course of the book club to provide additional context or adjustments as needed.

- Register Today: The book club will be limited to 35 people, so be sure to secure your spot.
