Responsibilites and tasks outlined in this document and are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the Wastewater Plant. Considerable knowledge of: pumps, motors, bearings, gears, pressure vessels, monitoring equipment, mixers, storage and feed systems, hydraulic equipment and other equipment.  Electrical experience needed.

Position Responsibilites (include but are not limited to the following).

  • Maintain and perform regularly scheduled maintenance on all WWTP equipment and machinery including: pumps, pump coupling alignment, packing, pump replacement, bearings, seals, shafts, gears, motors.
  • Troubleshoot individual pieces of mechanical equipment, evaluate and diagnose system deterioration for failure. Perform repairs on gas, chemical feed systems, odor control systems, screens, filters and related equipment.
  • Perform: plumbing, and concrete work in repairing equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain lift stations and their pumps and other equipment.
  • Responds to emergency situations, outages and equipment failure.
  • Operates cranes, trucks, forklifts, as other equipment is needed.
  • Perform assignments as instructed by Foreman.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment by insuring all PPE is in good working order and used by all crew members depending on working situation. Lockout/Tagout, confined space work.
  • Maintaining excellent communication with the supervisor insuring that he is aware where crews are and what is being accomplished.
  • Requisition of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assist other workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintaining time and production records.
  • Ensuring that all work is done in an efficient and timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Considerable ability to work well with others.
  • Working ability to solve technical problems.
  • Class B CDL license must be obtained before or within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Use eyes, hand and fingers to operate or adjust equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver’s license.

Education/Training:

  • Maintenance experience with strong electrical background.
  • Ability to use Windows (most recent release), as related to work.
  • Must have developed language skills to the point of being able to: Read and comprehend English (policy manuals, memos, letters, books, journals, instructions, rules etc.). Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar. Speak with poise, voice control, and confidence using correct English.
  • Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: Work with shop tools, and read a ruler.

Working Conditions:  In and outdoor environments, including extreme heat and extreme cold, insects will be present.

Training and Teaching:

  • Participate in all training provided through the plant including Safety Training courses.
  • Use of PPE and maintenance of departmental safety and all other equipment.
  • Follow directions from the Maintenance Foreman regarding all issues of job performance and other work related issues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects.
  • Ability to see within normal parameters.
  • Ability to hear within normal range.
  • Able to carry weight up to 75 lbs.
  • Must pass a physical and drug screen before hire.
  • Manual dexterity in hands and legs to use tools, bend and stretch.

Able to climb ladders and steps repeatedly throughout assigned shift.
