Department: Parks and Recreation                                                                                                          

Reports to: Assistant Director of Recreation

Pay Rate:

  • $10.00 per hour
  • Up to 28 hours per week

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of tasks in a summer camp and youth program setting including recreation activities, arts and crafts, preparing food, sports, games, and swimming
  • Oversee daily operations of youth programs and special events at the park
  • Lead various activities for groups of children
  • Demonstrates use of recreational equipment and teach participants the principles, techniques, and safety procedures for each activity
  • Clearly explain and enforce park and program rules
  • Report complaints to leadership and work to help resolve issues
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to learn and enforce safety and operating rules

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Must be able to work outside

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in outdoor recreation, education and/or youth programs
  • Valid CPR certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a wide variety of environment, including extreme heat and cold
  • Ability to stand for long period of time
  • Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds
