Reports to: Director of Recreation

Pay Rate:

• For each game umpired, the Softball Manager will receive $35.00. In addition, the Softball Manager will receive a fixed amount of $1,000 at the conclusion of each season.

Position Responsibilities:

• Manage adult men and coed softball leagues
• Prepare coaches meeting
• Correspond with all teams
• Call games due to inclement weather and contact each team if game is cancelled
• Light field prep
• Keep official score
• Document and report scores to Assistant Director
• Schedule umpires
• Enforce park and league rules
• Post information at the fields so teams can stay up to date
• At least 1 hour of office admin required each week

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to effectively communicate in a positive manner with the public
• Ability to control large groups of people calmly and effectively
• Current USA Softball of Indiana Umpire registration

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience coaching or playing softball

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a wide variety of environment, including extreme heat and cold
• Ability to stand for long period of time
• Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds
