Reports to: Director of Recreation

Pay Rate:

• For each game umpired, the Softball Umpire will receive $35.00. Games are scheduled every 1 hour and an umpire will generally get 2-3 games for a weeknight shift. The Spring League runs for 10 weeks beginning March 27, 2023 with games on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Position Responsibilities:

• Umpire Adult Men and Adult Coed Recreation Softball Leagues
• Keep game score
• Lead games with professionalism and fair play
• Enforce Park and League rules

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Ability to work well with others
• A solid knowledge of softball rules
• Ability to effectively communicate in a positive manner with the public
• Ability to control large groups of people calmly and effectively
• Current USA Softball of Indiana Umpire registration
• Must be over 18 years old

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience coaching or playing softball

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a wide variety of environment, including extreme heat and cold
• Ability to stand for long period of time
• Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds
