City Hall Opening - Update

July 2, 2020

Terre Haute City Hall Schedule for July 4 - July 17, 2020

This information was just released by Mayor Duke A. Bennett.

Yesterday, Governor Holcomb modified the originally proposed “Back on Track Indiana” plan. Instead of moving into Stage 5, he created a new Stage 4.5 due to the slight increase in cases and hospitalizations in our state during the past week. This new phase will go from July 4th – July 17th, 2020.

Based on this change of the state plan, I need to modify our reopening plan as follows:

  •  July 6th – City Court located within City Hall plans to open to the public on Monday morning. City Hall will be open from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon each business day only for those persons set for a hearing in City Court. No other members of the public will be permitted in City Hall at this time and we ask citizens to continue conducting business with all city departments via our web-site and by telephone. Note: All other city facilities (all those other than City Hall) will remain closed to public access but “in person” appointments for critical issues can still be made by contacting the appropriate department by telephone. Any member of the public entering City Hall for City Court will be screened and are required to wear a mask (along with all city staff who are interacting with those members of the public). Everyone should practice social distancing.

  • July 20th – Public access restrictions are lifted at all city facilities. We will resume normal business hours (8:00 am – 4:00 pm each business day) with full access to all city buildings. Upon reopening, all visitors should be prepared to be screened before entry, must wear a mask and are required to practice social distancing. City staff who interact directly with the public are required to wear a mask during those encounters and to practice social distancing.

This updated schedule was created using the current guidelines of the Governor’s Executive Order and is subject to change.

We continue to make progress but it is still unknown when this pandemic might end. I ask for your assistance by following the COVID-19 pandemic CDC guidelines as we work through this and continue serving the citizens of our community.

Sincerely,

Mayor Duke A. Bennett
