April 5, 2024

Hauteans, did you know that we are in the path of totality for the Solar Eclipse on April 8? This amazing celestial event will benefit our community with an influx of visitors, commerce, and community. The City of Terre Haute in partnership with local non-profits, business leaders, Vigo County officials, and State agencies, has prepared for this major event for over 2 years. We are so excited this event is finally arriving, HOWEVER, our residents need to prepare themselves as well. Our population is expected to temporarily DOUBLE with an anticipated 45-55,000 people traveling to Terre Haute to experience this natural wonder. We are READY for you and our welcomed guests to enjoy the many events planned in celebration of the Total Eclipse of the Haute BUT, please prepare yourself for long traffic delays both before and after the Eclipse. Be sure you have groceries, gas, prescriptions, and any other items you need. Don’t forget to wear your eclipse glasses and enjoy this incredible opportunity!
