CITY OF TERRE HAUTE ANNOUNCES SUMMER RESTRIPING PROJECT

Summer Street Restriping Project

The City of Terre Haute is pleased to announce a new street restriping project aimed at enhancing road safety, and ensuring better visibility for both drivers and pedestrians. This initiative is part of the city's ongoing commitment to maintaining and upgrading its infrastructure to meet the needs of its residents and visitors.

The street restriping project will begin on May 23, 2024, at 3:00 AM, and is expected to be completed by the end of the day on May 23, 2024. The first phase of this project includes the restriping of major thoroughfares and key intersections across the downtown area. Specific areas targeted for restriping include Ohio Street, Walnut Street, Wabash Avenue, and Cherry Street from the railroad tracks to US Highway 41.

Restriping will take place during both early morning and late daytime hours to minimize disruption. However, efforts will be made to conduct the most disruptive activities during off-peak hours. Drivers are being requested to stay off of the paint as much as possible on Thursday.

"Maintaining our city's existing infrastructure is a top priority," said Mayor Brandon Sakbun. "This restriping project is crucial for ensuring our roads are safe and efficient for all users. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to enhance the quality of our roadways. We acknowledge that many roadways need to be restriped. The Terre Haute Street Department continues to go above and beyond to improve our city’s roads and image."
Residents and businesses are encouraged to stay informed about the project and to report any concerns or issues during the restriping process. Feedback can be submitted through the city’s 311 Citizen Contact Center by calling 3-1-1 or texting 812-645-6811.

Updates on the progress of the restriping project will be shared via the city’s website and social media channels.
