Emergency Response Efforts and Contacts

Emergency Response Efforts and Contacts

June 26, 2024

We appreciate all of our hard working city employees helping to restore our community after yesterday's storms! As a reminder, our City crews are only able to remove trees and limbs from the City right-of-way (streets, sidewalks, & alleys). City crews are unable to go onto your private property. After we have cleared any trees or limbs causing traffic hazards we will begin cleaning up brush. Brush & debris from a tree in the City's right-of-way can be picked up by City crews as long as the debris is located in the right-of-way areas. For questions, please contact 311 by emailing [email protected], texting 812-645-6811, or calling 311 .

If you notice a fallen power line or safety hazard involving electrical poles, call Duke Energy at 800-343-325. If your power is out, you can report it to Duke Energy online, by texting ‘OUT’ to 57801, or by calling Duke Energy at 800-343-3525.

For reporting downed trees, tree limbs, or other storm debris report it to the City via our 311 citizen contact center. You can go report email [email protected] or text 812-645-6811. Please include detailed location information and photos when possible.

Our teams are already responding to storm-related incidents around the City. Please be patient as we anticipate there will be many requests for assistance.

Sidewalk Initiative Update

Sidewalk Initiative Update

July 17, 2024

Terre Haute is making a move towards being a walkable city. With the new ARPA Sidewalk Initiative, we are working towards a future that connects pedestrians to grocery stores and parks, while improving the overall quality of life and public health.

We will be using a portion of ARPA expenses to fund mapping software that will efficiently and effectively scan the sidewalks of Terre Haute. This software will ensure a comprehensive assessment for accessibility, data quality, and strategic analysis of our city sidewalk system. To find out more about this system, follow this link
