MOPED REGISTRATION

Beginning October 1, 2011 all persons operating a moped within the City of Terre Haute must have the moped registered annually with the Terre Haute Police Department Traffic Division to be in compliance with the City of Terre Haute Moped Ordinance.

Registration will begin on Monday, September 26, 2011.

To register your moped: Owner must bring a valid form of identification and the moped being registered to the THPD Traffic Division Office Monday – Friday (excluding Holidays) 8am-4pm.

• Complete the registration/application form.

• Pay the $25.00 registration fee for the initial registration (initial fee will be waived upon proof of completion of ABATE certified motorcycle safety course).  The initial registration fee will be valid until December 31, 2012. 
   
• Yearly renewal fee will be $10.00.

A Moped Regulation Pamphlet will be given out upon successful inspection.  All traffic and safety rules and regulations concerning mopeds must be followed.

THPD will affix the registration decal to the moped in a clearly visible location.

The THPD will allow all moped owners until October 31, 2011 to register their moped.  After that date the City Moped Ordinance Section 8-101 will be enforced.  Failure to have your moped registered will result in a citation being issued and the moped impounded.
