Gateway Beautification project

LOCATION –

Intersection of US-41 and heavily traveled I-70 highway

Intersection of state road US-46 and I-70 highway

PROJECT GOALS –

The intersection of two crucial corridors is the link between Terre Haute’s vibrant downtown and the numerous motorists travelling between Indianapolis and St. Louis and everywhere in between.

Seven goals and objectives -

  1. Attract travelers along I-70 in to downtown Terre haute
  2. Reinforce the idea of Terre Haute as multi-faceted gateway
  3. Develop highly visible components that will easily draw attention
  4. Leverage the existing I-70 overpass as a gateway component
  5. Provide a more pedestrian scale streetscape along 3rd street/US route 150
  6. Incorporate or provide opportunities for public art
  7. Create a design language that can be continued in future phases
