Position Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):
- Enforces licensing of all electricians in the City of Terre Haute
- Inspects all electrical work performed in the city to ensure that it meets National Electrical Code
- Inspect condemned property and provide Housing Inspector with a report
- Inspect any property without a meter to ensure it is in compliance with National Electrical Code before electric utility installs new meter
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the standard materials and methods used in the installation of electrical equipment
- Must be well versed in approval methods used in the installation of electrical equipment
- Must have knowledge of the National Electrical Code
- Ability to work with the public in a courteous and respectful manner
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: At least 5 years as a contractor, Master or Journeyman Electrician or must posses a college degree from a recognized electrical college or university and 3 years of practical wiring experience
Working Conditions: Both office and field work, including unsafe structures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to drive a vehicle
- Ability to walk and climb around job sites
- Ability to withstand all weather conditions
