(1)  Salary: 

Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and market conditions.

(2)  Nature of Work:

Overall management and operation of the Department of Redevelopment in accordance with the work program, budget, and personnel policies of the Redevelopment Commission.  The position is the chief administrative office of the Department of Redevelopment.

(3)  Example of Work Performed:

  • Planning, organizing, staffing, and directing the Commission's redevelopment program.
  • Communicating and coordinating the redevelopment program with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • General supervision of the professional and technical personnel of the Department.
  • Preparing and submitting reports to the Redevelopment Commission, Mayor's Office, City Council, and state and federal agencies.
  • Expending program funds in accordance with budgets and contracts approved by the Redevelopment Commission.
  • Developing new redevelopment programs and projects.

(4)  Required Knowledge, Ability, and Skills:

  • Knowledge of public and private urban redevelopment programs.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public management.
  • Ability to plan, organize, staff, and direct an urban redevelopment program.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

(5)  Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution of higher education with a degree in urban planning, public administration, business administration, or engineering and comprehensive experience in urban planning or a related field.  The Commission may waive the educational requirement where an applicant has an extensive and successful experience in urban planning or a related field.
