Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and courageous Firefighter to join our team. This position requires individuals who are already members of the 1977 INPRS FUND and are ready to serve our community through fire suppression, emergency medical response, and rescue operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional physical fitness, teamwork, and a commitment to public safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and other emergency situations as required.
- Perform fire suppression activities, including controlling and extinguishing fires, search and rescue, and hazardous materials response.
- Administer basic and advanced life support as a first responder.
- Inspect and maintain firefighting equipment, vehicles, and gear to ensure operational readiness.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on firefighting techniques, safety protocols, and medical response procedures.
- Educate the public on fire prevention, safety measures, and emergency preparedness.
- Work collaboratively with other emergency personnel, law enforcement, and medical teams during emergency responses.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to emergency calls, training, and equipment maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be an active member of the 1977 INPRS Fund.
- Certified Firefighter I & II (or equivalent state-recognized certification).
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) certification or higher preferred.
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a physical fitness evaluation and medical examination.
- Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and communication abilities.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
- Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks under extreme conditions, including high heat, smoke, and hazardous environments.
- Must be able to lift heavy equipment and individuals as needed.
- Work includes exposure to dangerous situations and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
