Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of City Hall.  In addition, the Aide will in some instances, be a working supervisor performing related work of a more advanced level than subordinates do or could perform duties that are similar or related to the work performed by subordinates.  The Aide will perform daily maintenance of building, grounds and any related equipment.

 

Position Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

* Opening City Hall

* Maintaining all FOBs and keys needed for building access

* Performing maintenance and preventative maintenance duties (i.e. sink and toilet repair, change locks and doors, etc.)

* Repairs, maintains, and services equipment, machinery, tools and building

* Performs painting duties as necessary

* Changing light bulbs and maintaining lighting fixtures

* Move office furniture and equipment, performs basic office machine repairs

* Keep building and grounds looking neat and free from trash and debris

* Serve as purchasing agent for custodial supplies/materials, construction materials, maintenance and office supplies

* Knowledgeable of and capable of using and utilizing various equipment, tools and chemicals

* Assists with scheduling contractors and assisting as needed to help coordinate work orders for other departments

* Assist with monitoring fire and alarm systems

* Perform other essential duties as needed

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* Must be able to work well with others

* Must be able to recognize electrical, plumbing and mechanical malfunctions or equipment failures

* Must have a neat professional appearance, and a courteous manner

* Must be able to receive calls regarding maintenance issues and solve problems.

* Must be able to supervise, train and motivate employees

* Must be a self-starter and perform jobs with minimal supervision

 

Minimum Qualifications:

* Education/Training:  High School diploma or equivalent

* Experience:  1-5 years preferred maintenance and facilities experience as well as a minimum of a year preferred supervisory experience

 

 Working Conditions:

* Outdoors/indoors

 

Physical Requirements:

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, talk, hear, finger dexterity, handle, feel or operate objects, use tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, bend over, kneel, and climb a step ladder.

* The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
