Department:  Transit Utility                          

Reports To:    Assistant Manager                           

FLSA:            Non-Exempt

Position Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

• Repairs and maintains fleet of diesel and gasoline city buses.
• Drives city buses as necessary.
• Night position – 3 nights per week.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Ability to work well with others.
• Professional certification is preferred, but not required.
• Must have mechanical experience in diesel/gasoline engines in a commercial garage or dealer environment.
• Must be able to use a cutting torch and electric welder
• Ability to stoop, bend, and reach.

Knowledge of the following advantageous:

• Hydraulics
• Brake Systems
• Power Transmission
• Suspension Members
• Electrical Systems
• Tune-up and Carburetion on gasoline engines and accessories equipment

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Training: High School Diploma or Equivalent. 

Working Conditions: Garage setting.

Special Requirements: Must possess a valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to see within normal parameters.
• Sufficient physical ability to perform all maintenance tasks and lifting requirements.
• Manual dexterity in hands and legs to use tools, bend, and stretch.
• Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s)
